The A5 Reebok Campaign: The Commercial That Shook Up The Advertising World in 2001

In 2001, at the height of Philadelphia 76ers Allen Iverson's Underdog MVP Season, as well as the peak of Hip Hop's most artsy & over-the-top era of music videos & creative lyrical wordplay, The 2 Worlds would collide & explode in the world of advertising, starring Iverson & the Beloved Ruff Ryders lyricist Jadakiss, for the Trackmasters: Tone & Poke musically produced commercial "The Answer 5 Reebok Campaign" to promote & celebrate Allen Iverson's 5th sneaker installment with the brand. Hip Hop's presence in marketing & branding was always felt, but this campaign was the most culturally significant & special. Being from Harlem, I watched Rucker Park Tournaments, And-1 Mixtapes & Streetball Culture at large, rise like never before in the early 2000s. In my view, Iverson's stamp & Jadakiss lyrical genius, helped bring Streetball Culture to the masses with this campaign, giving a face & a gritty raspy voice for a brand that was forward thinking.
